Texting and Driving: Just Wrong

Great diet, lots of exercise, positive attitude — anti-aging attributes all. But in the blink of an eye, aging can stop cold in its tracks. The number after the dash on your or your victim’s tombstone filled in.

How?

Texting and driving. You see it everywhere. I saw at least five people today texting while at the wheel of a car.

“I’m at a red light, so it’s OK.”

“Traffic is slow and I need to let them know I’ll be a bit late.”

There will be a million and one excuses. None is acceptable.

If you text and drive, you are inconsiderate, thoughtless, selfish, careless, disrespectful of human life, destructive, and dangerous.

You put the impulsive, instant gratification of communicating an insignificant bit of information ahead of the lives of your fellow citizens.

Don’t believe me? Watch this.

Imagine the pain of losing a loved one to an accident involving someone texting and driving. Imagine the guilt you would carry to your grave if you killed or maimed someone while in the middle of some meaningless wireless transmission.

Life is too short, too precious to cut short because of some stupid obsession with 24/7 connectivity. You work too hard to live a long, healthy, quality life to have it snuffed in a heartbeat.

Don’t text and drive. Make sure everyone you know and love understands how critical it is to never do it.

We all need to take a stand on this. For the sake of each and every one of us.
