You Only Get One Body. Cherish It.
He awoke to a piercing sound.
“This is so annoying”, the man thought to himself. “It’s four in the morning. I’m tired. Why is the damn smoke detector going off?” He proceeds to pull out the chair from the desk in his room, hop up, and disconnect the battery to the alarm.
“Silence! Back to sleep.”
The newspaper headline the next morning reads, “Man Tragically Dies in House Fire”.
Tragic, perhaps. Unnecessary and stupid? Absolutely.
Why is it so many people ignore similar warnings their body gives them on a regular basis? Why do they continually pull the battery out of their internal alarm systems and fail to deal with the real problem?
You come into this world with a wondrous thing called your body. You leave this world with that same body — the only one you will ever get. It doesn’t come with a replacement policy or a warranty.
What is your body saying to you?
Do you lack energy? Shortness of breath after only a small exertion? Can’t roll on the floor to play with your kids or grandkids? Getting old and accepting the slow down?
Or worse. Having heart pains? Has your doctor told you to lose weight? That you are borderline diabetic? Are you on medication you think you will need to take for the rest of your life?
Instead of ignoring these alarm signals and masking the symptoms with meds, take a serious look at your lifestyle. The alarm is going off for a reason. It’s trying to tell you something. Your job is to figure out what that is and deal with the real issue.
Treat the only body you will ever have just like that — the only one you will ever get.
