Toxic Underarms…No Sweat
It is thought that as many as a third of all personal care products contain at least one ingredient that is a possible carcinogen.
Many personal care products are used on a daily basis: shampoo, soap, toothpaste, mascara.
Even if there isn’t definitive proof of the carcinogenic effect of these ingredients, the question you need to ask yourself, is it worth the risk to apply or use them every day?
Consider underarm protection: antiperspirants and deodorants. Deodorants mask the body’s natural odour. The job of an antiperspirant is to prevent sweating. No sweat; no odour. Most antiperspirants accomplish this with aluminium as the active ingredient.
Aluminium chloride, aluminium chlorohydrate, aluminium zirconium, aluminium zirconium trichlorohydrex, and aluminium zirconium tetrachlorohydrex. These aluminium compounds block sweat. The electrolytes in sweat mix with the aluminium to create a gel substance which prevents perspiration by clogging the pores.
Aluminium and its effect on the human body are controversial in the science world. Some studies link it to Alzheimer’s and breast cancer. Other studies refute these claims.
Though science can’t provide conclusive answers the safety of aluminium, is it worth the risk to apply an antiperspirant every day for the rest of your life?
For over twenty years, I have used a product that is truly amazing. It contains no aluminium, only natural ingredients. Rather than act as an antiperspirant, it works as an anti-bacterial agent. Body odour is the result of bacteria ‘festering’ in the areas like the armpits. Eliminate the bacteria, eliminate the body odour.
Lavilin is an underarm deodorant cream available in many health food stores. The cool part about this product is that once applied, it lasts for a week or longer. I work-out a lot and still usually get at least week before re-application is required.
Super convenient. Super results. Super healthy.
