Silver Amalgam, Lies, and the ADA

Dental amalgam is considered a safe, affordable and durable material that has been used to restore the teeth of more than 100 million Americans. It contains a mixture of metals such as silver, copper and tin, in addition to mercury, which binds these components into a hard, stable and safe substance. Dental amalgam has been studied and reviewed extensively, and has established a record of safety and effectiveness.”  American Dental Association [ADA] Council on Scientific Affairs

Really! The most toxic, non-radioactive metal on the planet Earth residing in your mouth for 20, 30, 40 years is safe?

There is only one reason why the ADA takes the position it does on the safety of silver amalgam: to admit that it has poisoned over 100 million Americans would expose dentists in the U.S. to massive law suits. End of story.

This is a cover-your-ass position taken by the ADA at the expense unsuspecting Americans.

To think that in light of massive evidence of the toxic effects of mercury on the human body, 47% of dentists still insist on using silver amalgam is astounding.

On 28 March 2013, Dr. Oz aired a show on the dangers of silver amalgam. He demonstrated the amount of mercury vapour released by the simple act of brushing a tooth — enough to require the evacuation of a room according to EPA regulations. And this is going on in your mouth for decades. Inches from the brain.

This program so enraged the ADA that on 10 June, it publically denounced Dr. Oz and has withdrawn support of his show.

Here’s a short video supporting the claims made by Dr. Oz on his show:

The ADA is reckless and irresponsible in its insistence of the safety and continued use of silver amalgam. To jeopardise patient safety by knowingly doing what they do is just wrong.

If you have a dentist who insists on using silver amalgam in your mouth, find a new dentist. If you have silver amalgam in your mouth, you might consider having it removed — but choose your removing dentist wisely.

Any way you slice it, mercury has no place in your mouth.
