You blow out the candles on your birthday cake and you’re another year older. The years stack on as time marches relentlessly.

That’s chronological aging.

But what about biological aging. We’ve all met someone who reveals his age and we’re shocked he’s that old. Or the guy who tells us he’s 52 and we were guessing mid-sixties.

A good friend of mine tells a story of many years ago when she was a young mother. She thought it was normal to be dead tired at the end of every week, have daily headaches, and never sleep well.

She significantly changed her lifestyle and is feeling younger, healthier, and more vibrant today than she did twenty years ago.

We’ve all heard it before. The aches and pains — get used to it. The sagging physique and the extra 15 – 20 pounds that have crept on over the last 10 years — it’s all part of getting old.

That’s aging.

I absolutely reject this thinking. And so can you.

It wasn’t the genetic lottery that allowed Jack LaLanne to live a model of good health until his nineties.

It was his lifestyle choices that allowed him to optimise his biology. Exercise, diet, mindset. All these done properly greatly improve the odds of any person living a long, vibrant life.

So you have a choice. You can mistreat your body, neglect your health, and hope for a medical miracle to grant you more years. Or you can cherish the only body you will ever get and reap the rewards in the future.

It’s best to have already started on option number two.

The next best time to start is today.
